Welcome to kidsdds.net—my new website!  My name is Fred Tatel and I practice children’s dentistry in Tinley Park. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago and attended Chicago Public Schools. I received my undergraduate degree in fine arts and a Masters in General Studies degree at Northwestern University in Evanston. After I obtained my dental degree, also from Northwestern, I decided I wanted to earn a specialty license in dentistry for children. I became an intern at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for one year and then did a year of postgraduate study in pediatric dentistry at Marquette University in Milwaukee. Over the years I have also acquired twelve hours towards a Masters in English degree at Northwestern and twenty three hours toward a Masters in Musicology at the Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt University.

I am a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and have served as an examiner on the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Click here to read a letter concerning his appointment. I am on the staff of the University of Chicago Medical School and I teach in the General Practice Residency Program at Evanston Hospital. I consult for the surgical staff of Ingalls Hospital and have practiced in the southern suburbs for more than thirty years. I hold membership in all of the local and national dental and pediatric dental societies as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Orthodontic Society. I review articles for the Journal of the American Dental Association and have authored articles for the journal Pediatric Dentistry.

My activities outside of the office include biking, swimming, boating and study, with a special interest in languages. My wife Faye is a math educator and my daughter Jennifer is a legal adviser to the FCC in Washington D.C. My son Sam is married to Becca and they have two beautiful daughters Hannah Lee and Lily Grace. He is the general manager of Companions for Seniors, a senior citizen home care organization.

Thanks for visiting my website. I hope this information gives you an insight into who is treating your child and allows you to feel that you have made the proper choice in choosing a dental specialist for your son or daughter. If you have any questions, please call my office at (708) 633-8700 or e mail me at fstatel@msn.com.
